County Almanac

Today on the Prairie

Weather, sunrise and sunset, hunting and fishing seasons, state highway work, and the Bayou Meto river gauge, all on one page. The forecast, sun and moon times, and river reading load fresh each time you open the page; road work, season dates, burn-ban status, and grain prices come from county data files that are updated separately and may be out of date. Every section lists its source.

What's in season

Season windows are set by the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission (AGFC), not by the county. The 2026–27 waterfowl dates below are the dates AGFC adopted in April 2026. Bag limits, zones, and stamps are also set by AGFC: check the 2026–27 Hunting Guidebook on the AGFC guidebooks page before you hunt.

Bayou Meto WMA rules

For the 2026–27 season, AGFC will establish new “non-motorized boat only” access areas on portions of George H. Dunklin Bayou Meto WMA, according to AGFC’s April 2026 announcement. AGFC has not published maps of the affected areas yet; it says the maps will be posted on agfc.com as waterfowl season draws near. Boat access and other rules for the WMA are set by AGFC, not by the county. Check the AGFC guidebooks for the current rules before you go.

Season windows load from the county's data file (hand-entered from AGFC announcements).
